Woodland of Baggot Estate in Ballinacurra, Limerick CityThe Irish Jesuit Province has signed up to participate in Flights for Forests, the carbon-offset programme developed by the Jesuit Conference of Asia Pacific.  This is one of the results of the Jesuit Provincialate’s decision to commit to reflecting critically on its use of air-travel in response to Pope Francis’ invitation to us all to acknowledge our environmental responsibility.  Aviation is the fastest growing source of greenhouse gas emissions in the transport sector, producing up to eight percent of the world’s total emissions, and air travel continues to rise by four to five percent annually.  More

Of giving much and receiving more

JCAP Tertians Misa de Aguinaldo, comes from a Spanish phrase which literally means “Mass of the gift”. It is a series of novena Masses that are meant to prepare the faithful in celebrating Christmas. The “gift” refers to the Mystery of the Incarnation, when God, moved by compassion, willed to be present among men by becoming one with us (Jn. 3:16). St Francis of Assisi beautifully prayed, “in giving that we (shall) receive”. He teaches us that by extending a giving hand, we are receiving the grace of consolation leading us to a deeper understanding of how the Incarnate Lord was moved by his love for us.  More

A gift of joy from God

The inspiration to compose the song came the night after Soo Young’s diaconate ordination. “We were in Arrupe Heights when I was overwhelmed with joy from the congratulations I received from my brothers.
